Home and Business - Setting Your LimitsAlthough working at home can have many benefits, it also has its disadvantages. Therefore, you need to fully protect yourself before you launch your home business. Choose wisely what type of business you wish to start. Do you want to be sole proprietor? A Limited Liabilty Company, a corporation? Do you want business partners? Visit your tax accountant prior to setting up the home-based business and discuss with your accountant everything that is needed to do this correctly the first time. Make a list of goals that you wish to accomplish in the next two years for your business and be realistic. Expect to start out in the red, but don't plan on staying there. If your city requires you to get a business license, then do so. Keep with the zoning ordinances as well. Don't take short-cuts and overstep the laws set up for your protection. Start out small, if your home-based business prospers than plan for more improvements in the future. But for now plan simply and efficiently on how to stay alive in what is fast becoming a competitive market. |
